About Pittsburgh Pirate Ship

Meet Commodore Evan Weaver, the owner and operator of the Pittsburgh Pirate Ship. Commodore Evan is a career sailor from his youth having spent 7 years with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps before entering into Naval Service. He served for six years at three commands as a Master-At-Arms where he specialized in Anti-Terrorism as a Certified Anti-Terrorism Specialist and instructor. Additionally, Commodore Evan worked with the Military Sealift Command on five of their merchant vessels as part of Operation Vigilant Mariner which was in direct logistical support of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Having sailed all seven seas and visiting sixteen countries on 5 continents, Commodore Evan returned home to Pennsylvania to attend Duquesne University for Business. Upon finishing his education, he built his career and family in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. During the global COVID pandemic, Commodore Evan focused his sights and plotted his course to realize a dream he’s had for over a decade. To open the Pittsburgh Pirate Ship! Commodore Evan began this venture with a small USCG Compliant vessel that he made look like a pirate ship as much as possible. After his first season of running cruises of no more than 6 passengers, he knew his next step was to have a much larger vessel to accommodate more passengers. Welcome aboard the Kraken!

With over 250 years of combined maritime experience, our Captains and crew are USCG Credentialed Merchant Mariners that have experience in the U.S. Navy, Commercial Merchant Ships, Commercial Passenger Vessels, Life Saving, and Entertainment. Our crew undergoes regular training in USCG mandated skills and drills, drug and alcohol testing, and First Aid/CPR.
